Frequently Asked Questions

How does it work?

I arrive 30 mins before I am due to start illustrating to set everything up at your venue.

Guests are then able to approach me for a portraits. I will take a quick photo of them and they are then free to leave and mingle until later.

The finished illustrations will be displayed in my pop-up gallery, ready for them to collect towards the end of the event.

How long does it take to illustrate each picture?

I can illustrate around 8-10 guests per hour as each illustration is hand drawn from scratch.

Sometimes it can be quicker or longer, it all depends on the level of complexity of the outfit and accessories.

Please note that during the 7 hour packages, I will schedule in a 30 minute break meaning I will be there for a total of 8 hours (30 mins prior to set up and 30 mins for a break) so that the full 7 hours of live illustration is guaranteed.

I do not schedule in a break for the 4 hour packages.

Does it have to be a wedding?

Not at all! Live illustration works for multiple types of events from baby showers to corporate galas.

Just drop me a message and I’ll be happy to help.

How will guests know what to do?

There will be an instruction board next to the table so guests can read the prompts to understand how it works.

Which areas do you cover?

I am based in Newton Aycliffe, County Durham.

Free travel is included up to 20 miles from DL5 6BL, however I can travel further, which will incur an additional 50p per mile charge.

For bookings much farther away, I’m happy to discuss if travel and accommodation is covered.

Does the number of guests mean the number of illustrations?

I quote by time drawn. Your guests will have the option to pose individually, in couples, or small friendship or family groups. Only one illustration of each guest will be drawn in the order that they have their picture taken.

What do I require to work?

A well lit space is preferable, as well as a sturdy, desk-height table and chair. We can discus this further during our initial conversation on booking.

Somewhere near a plug socket is preferable, especially if I am there for longer than 3-4 hours.

I will also speak to the venue in advance myself.

How do I make a booking?

Once you have decided on a package, please complete the Booking Enquiry Form. I will then check if your date is available and get back to you within 24 hours.

I will also check the location of your venue / party. I will also check if any additional travel fees apply.

If you’re happy with your quote, I’ll send over a simple contract with Terms & Conditions for you to check and sign.

To secure your booking, I take a £100 non-refundable deposit via bank transfer. I will then send a confirmation email so you know your date is secure.

Three months before your wedding date, I’ll be in touch again for 50%  of the remaining fee. We can then discuss exact timings and anything else you’d like to check.

The remaining balance is due one week before your wedding day.

After that, you’ll then see me on the day of your wedding / event. If you have any queries before then, you can of course drop me a line to discuss.

I’ll arrive around 30 minutes before your illustration schedule begins to get everything set up.

*If the wedding is within 3 months, I ask for a non-refundable deposit of 50% to secure your date. The remaining balance will be due one week before your wedding / event.
